Pilot Prattle: Move over, Housewives...

The Housewives aren't even off the block yet, and Marc Cherry and the folks at ABC are already finding shows to replace them. First up is Good Christian Bitches, starring Kristen Chenoweth, which premieres March 4 after Desperate Housewives, and a pilot for a new nighttime soap is in the works for next fall titled Devious Maids.

Maids focuses on four women working for the rich and powerful in Los Angeles. The featured four have recently been cast, and while they certainly won't replace my favorite Wisteria Lane residents, some of them might come close.

Roselyn Sanchez (Without a Trace) will play an aspiring singer who does house work for a famous pop star to make ends meet.

Judy Reyes (Scrubs) will co-star as a senior maid who works alongside her teenage daughter.

Dania Ramirez (Heroes) drove me crazy on Heroes ("Alejandroooooooooooooooo"), but I hope she's more loveable as a single mother who works as the housekeeper for a pair of famous actors.

Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty) is returning to television the same year as Michael Urie and Becki Newton, and while I wish they were all on the same show together, I'm just glad my favorite Ugly Betty actors are getting work. Ortiz will be playing a housekeeper with a secret: She’s actually a college-educated woman who is working in an upscale Beverly Hills neighborhood in hopes of uncovering the truth behind her son’s recent murder conviction.

One can only hope that Devious Maids more closely resembles Desperate Housewives at the start of its run, and not so much the later seasons. Again... "Alejandroooooooooooo"
