CWappily Ever After...

In a year full of fairy tale modernizations, updates, remakes, 3D re-releases and retellings, it's no shock that The CW has announced that one of their fall pilots will be a fresh spin on a fairy tale. How original...

But don't get me wrong - I like fairytales and I like The CW, so all should be golden. It's just that the premise for the new show puts the leading characters of Beauty and the Beast in today's world. I'm sorry... isn't that already made with Vanessa Hudgens and called Beastly? Or, in lesser extent, don't we see Belle on a weekly basis in ABC's Once Upon A Time? It's just not making much sense...

Comparisons aside, the CW is pushing forward with the pilot for their new season, casting WB veteran, Kristin Kreuk (Smallville) as the show's leading lady. She's cute enough to play the original independent woman, but is the concept fresh enough to lead the show to a happily ever after?
